Patterning Planar Forms
a three day workshop (4 hours each day + homework) that begins with how to pattern simple geometric forms and quickly move into patterning super complex curved forms.

Sewing Complex Curves
this one day workshop (4 hours) will review techniques for sewing challenging, complex forms from cloth. patterns and muslin will be provided or students can bring their own. there will be machines available to share but it is recommended that you bring your own.

Hatmaking Armature Techniques:
a two day workshop where the wire and buckram method of hatmaking is explored. a "Merry Widow" hat will be constructed, with bows and flowers reviewed as well. this workshop will be technical in nature but the processes can be applied to general armature techniques. there will be machines available to share but it is recommended that you bring your own.

Natural Dye Workshop
a two day workshop where we collect material from a nearby field and process it to experiment with dyeing. commercially available natural dyes will also be available to experiment with. data & documentation collected from this workshop will be posted on the dflux blog. this workshop will take place outside rain or shine. please note: fabric & yarn not provided!
note: this workshop will take place three times in the Spring, Summer and Fall as different plants create different colors according to season. please be sure to note which workshop session you're siging up for in your correspondence.

Cut Paper Workshop

FM Radio Transmitter-building Workshop
this three hour workshop will focus on building short-range fm radio transmitters followed immediately by testing, experimentation and brainstorming about programming ideas and other uses. you will take your transmitter home with you! workshop capacity limited to 10.

Bathouse Building Workshop
Bats are wonderful yard friends eating as many as 3000 bugs a night. You will leave from this 3 hour workshop having built a bathouse for your yard.
This workshop will take place outside. In case of rain workshop will be scheduled. Maximum 8 Students

Frame Weaving Workshop
Build your own frame loom from a cardboard box in this 3 hour workshop. Build a heddle to easily weave. Some yarn is provided but please bring your own.
